Overview

What we do

AUI is the front-end platform and today, over 96% page views on Amazon.com are rendered using AUI. We are modernizing the company’s front end code base, while diving deep on latency, performance, API design, user experience, and cross browser/device compatibility. Basically, we need people who can build libraries, not just use them.

Our team is incredibly customer-centric. For any given situation, we have to make the most suitable choice at time on behalf of the folks using our platform — and we have to do it at scale as over 3,500 engineers and 400 teams in the company have used AUI to build web and app experiences. This may sound cliché, but within the next hour AUI will be used to generate tens of millions of page views. It’s a lot of responsibility, but also a lot of opportunity. For example, we can run experiments that change almost every page on Amazon.com. We can also impact the page load time for the entire site. Have you ever tried to figure out why your site is 6ms slower? We have.

What we are looking for

We are looking for highly motivated, quality-centric engineers with deep end-to-end web application knowledge to design, develop and research technologies that impact millions of end users. Successful candidate must have a strong drive for results, good interpersonal skills, and be a team player who has the ability to work independently in a fast-paced start-up like environment.

You will be working with cross-functional teams across the company to develop best in class shared component libraries for desktop and mobile web applications. You’ll also be actively involved in evangelism activities such as giving tech talks.
