Senior Algorithm Software Engineer – Data Processing Focus

Ball Aerospace is looking to expand our team with a talented and energetic software engineer to work as a data processing and algorithm specialist. This role consists of bringing strong software, data processing, and applied math skills to bear in a mission-focused environment. Technologies include Python, MATLAB, modern C++, Ruby, and cloud platforms.

 

What You’ll Do:
•Develop algorithms to process and exploit data collected by remote systems in realtime and batch contexts.
•Develop high-reliability software systems and tooling targeting cloud platforms.
•Perform full software lifecycle functions across waterfall and agile workflows.
•Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment with both internal and external customers to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
•Provide tasking and technical direction to junior engineers, and review work products at multiple levels.
•Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
•Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
•Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:
•BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
•Each higher-level degree, i.e., master’s degree and/or PhD, may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
•Experience designing, implementing, and testing software for operational systems using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and modern C++.
•Proficiency with tracking and image processing algorithms, such as sensor calibration, nonuniformity correction, background suppression and image stabilization.

•Proficiency developing software for Linux and cloud platforms.
•Active Top Secret clearance required. SCI access preferred.

 

Working Conditions:
•Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
•May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
•May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
•Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

 

Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.
