POSITION

Lead Software Engineer

 

THE ROLE

BB Imaging is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to act as an equal parts contributor to a small team of software engineers as we execute our product roadmap to provide SaaS cloud solutions for clinics throughout the U.S. We have a working prototype, and our next challenge is to bring it to market so we can profoundly impact the quality of care for pregnant women in underserved areas and reduce maternal mortality. You will join a team consisting of a product manager, product owner, software engineers, and an entire group of expert clinicians.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

50% leading the engineering team, contributing, and supporting BBI Mission, Purpose Values, and Vision 50% writing code as an individual contributor
Recruit, build and grow and lead a diverse development team, provide mentorship and advocate for the development team.
Focus on outcomes to innovate through a series of experiments and deliver a beta with a high-level of market fit. Implement the Roadmap and execute the product vision by writing code, reviewing code, supporting junior engineers, and contributing to an iterative process of lean experiments.
Collaborate with Product Design and Product Management to deliver a user experience that takes into account our patients and providers.
Communicate the status of product development, budgets, and risks.
Collaborate with product team to design sprints and epics with bias towards execution and delivery. Help refine outcome-based development methodology.
Identify which best practices in Agile, lean, and design thinking to adopt at BBI to support an iterative process (PLAN, DO, CHECK, ACT).
Continual research into new and emerging technologies such as AI that help us reach our long-term product vision.  Adapt DevOps to our expanding engineering team to support lean experiments.
Adapt evolutionary architecture and emergent design practices to support flexibility.
The First Year:

Execute product vision through architecture, design, implementation, testing and delivering (our collective work aims to reduce maternal-fetal mortality)
Manage junior developers by reviewing team coding, contributing changes to coding when needed, identifying and solving coding errors, and reporting progress to leadership
Actively write clean and functional code to continuously improve our iterative process of lean experiments (Test, Learn Adjust, Repeat).

WHO YOU ARE

Experience with these technologies: AWS, Lambda, API, Gateway, Dynamo, Angular, Javascript or Typescript, Git (or some kind of Version Control)
5-7 years experience software engineering
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technology field, or equivalent experience
Fluent in Lean and Agile Methods
Familiar with Design Think and User Experience
Ability to trouble shoot technical issues and suggested solutions.
Strong leadership, organizational abilities, detailed oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Self-directed and motivated, able to work in an autonomous setting.
Willingness to build professional relationships with staff, vendors and clients.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and healthcare team.
Ability to interpret documents. routine reports, and correspondence.
