Who we are:
FloodMapp is a rapidly growing venture backed technology company looking to expand our team to scale our product across Australia and United States.

Flooding is the costliest natural disaster, causing billions in damage and taking thousands of lives across the globe every single year.  FloodMapp offers real-time flood forecasting and mapping using cutting edge technology. We work with large organizations across the public and private sector to improve safety and prevent damage in the event of flooding.

You don’t need to have a specific background, but ideally, you’ll have depth and experience with a combination of the above skills. Your Role & Responsibilities:
As our DevOps Lead, you’ll be an instrumental member of FloodMapp’s growing engineering team. You will help to build and manage our growing cloud infrastructure, as well as set standards for deployment, observability, alerting, and security. This role requires technical experience, a bias towards taking action, and a strong ownership mentality.

At FloodMapp you will:

  • Write plenty of infrastructure as code either as Terraform modules or Python CDK
  • Help to design, build, and run our growing platform
  • Design CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality testing and deployment
  • Deploy monitoring and observability tools to ensure we can keep an eye on all critical systems
  • Help teams respond to any system outages
  • Work in a small team that thrives on solving big problems
  • Share your skills with others through technical mentoring and code reviews
  • Be exposed to a plethora of technologies ranging from GIS tools, to machine learning libraries, and all manner of infrastructure
  • Be continuously learning about GIS, hydrology, hydraulics and cloud infrastructure

Your Skills & Background:
We recognise that everyone comes from a diverse background and brings different skill sets. Below is a guide for what skills and experience we’re looking for:

Education Guide:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Computer Science
  • Masters of IT or
  • Other relevant course

Ideal Experience:

  • You should have full working rights to live and work in Australia.
  • 3+ years experience in Development Operations
  • Proficient with Terraform
  • Proficient with Docker
  • Proficient in constructing CI/CD pipelines – Bash, Linux, Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Proficient with AWS:
    RDS, ECS, ECR, Lambda, Batch, S3, EC2, SNS, SQS, Cognito, IAM
  • Experience with:
    Step Functions, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, API Gateway
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) and or TF-CDK
  • Experience with  Python, and/or Java
  • Experience with  PostgreSQL

It’s not required, but would be great if you have:

  • Experience with  k8s
  • Experience with QGIS, ArcGIS
  • Experience with GIS tools, especially PostGIS
  • Experience using Slack, Jira & Confluence
  • Previous experience in technical leadership roles
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development & Pair Programming
  • Experience or aptitude for two-way teaching, training and knowledge sharing amongst colleagues.
  • Fluent in English speaking/listening, reading and writing.
  • FloodMapp is a diverse, distributed, and hybrid team. Not all communication can be done in person. Being able to express
  • yourself succinctly in writing is an asset.

Your Pay & Perks:

  • Remuneration package of $100,000-150,000
    based on skills, experience, and location
  • Opportunity to participate in FloodMapp’s Employee Share Option Plan
