Your solutions will help our breeders and researchers to do their job better and faster.

As a software developer, you closely interact with the business and our R&D department. They have a thorough understanding of the breeding process and the genomic research supporting those processes. You are the link between IT and research from design to final product: together you will make sure that your software fits our business and research needs.

We need you to be capable to adjust to constant business change. This includes new requirements, evolving goals and strategies, and emerging technologies. You are able to work independently, and in an Agile way.

You will not be alone in this task. As a part of the breeding-IT team you will work with several skilled developers. This team creates and delivers tailor-made software to boost our breeding  and research processes. You will report to the Breeding-IT Manager. This job is located in Boxmeer, the Netherlands.

Are you passionate about?

  • Analyse business and R&D needs and translate those in technical requirements. Design, develop and test software which meets those needs.
  • Contribute in developing the next generation breeding applications for which you ensure reusability of components and alignment with long-term architecture vision.
  • Manage projects of the Breeding-IT project portfolio.
  • Developing your knowledge of animal genetics and genomics
  • Be part of an international Scrum team, work in an Agile way.
  • Support current breeding applications as specialist (second line of support)

Do you have the following requirements?

  • Bachelor or master in Bioinformatics, Informatics, Statistics, Software engineering, or related field
  • Good SQL knowledge
  • Quick learner, highly analytical, problem-solver
  • Proficient with project planning, implementation and execution

Nice to have qualifications

  • Oracle knowledge (PL/SQL) or at least knowledge of other relational databases
  • Knowledge of Linux Bash scripting
  • Agile mindset and knowledge of related tools such as Azure DevOps
  • Some years of experience in a professional software development environment
  • Knowledge of (animal) breeding and genetics and specifically related software
