Role – As a developer at Local Roots, you’ll be building the LocalX user experience that empowers our farm operations team to manage our network of distributed indoor farms. You will focus on building advanced MRP/ERP functionality into our platform to enable our team to manage farms more efficiently. You’ll be solving challenges that will transform agriculture, crop monitoring, plant science, breeding, and food. We’re looking for an exceptional and creative engineer to usher in the next era of farming.

Responsibilities – You should be confident making significant contributions in the following categories:

Building beautiful, intuitive user interfaces for controlling all kinds of hardware

Developing production planning, inventory management, labor scheduling, procurement, invoicing, cost accounting, and other modules within the LocalX platform

Integrating the LocalX platform with other software

Requirements – Your background should include most of the following:

Java, JSON, XML, C++, Python, Javascript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Google Cloud
Embedded software and hardware control
MRP/ERP design and build
Confidence managing projects from start to finish with little guidance
Enthusiasm to problem solve, innovate, hack, and build and excitement in the face of uncertainty

Bonus Skills Bonus points if any of these also describe you:

MS or PhD in computer science
3+ years in MRP/ERP
3+ years in software for robotics
5+ years professional experience
Familiarity with control systems and process automation
Experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computer vision
Experience with user interfaces, networking, agriculture, and food processing
