In this role, you will program in Core Motion and Core Location APIs, and implement algorithms designed by our data science team that utilize networking protocols to send and receive data from a backend server. You will:

  • Contribute your awesome Android skills to develop best in class, innovative, consumer facing apps

  • Own the development of our Android app store and B2B applications and SDKs

  • Design, implement, and test new, Android based applications

  • Write high quality code that is well documented, maintainable and unit tested

  • Scale mobile team processes; improve release pipeline, test automation and monitoring (trip capture, battery and data usage, car crashes, etc.)

  • Partner with UI/UX to build the interface with focus on creating usability and great customer experiences

  • Help embed algorithms initially developed to run in the cloud back to the phone

  • Confidently advocate for the Android platform e.g: evaluate new frameworks, mentor the team, and help lead the

  • Android technical vision at TrueMotion

  • Participate in code reviews and team meetings


You have:

  • 3+ years of experience working with key technologies for the Android platform.

  • Fluency in Java

  • Knowledge of RxJava and/or Kotlin

  • Experience designing robust, extensible and customizable mobile application code and frameworks

  • Experience consuming and/or designing REST APIs

  • Strong UI development skills (complex view trees, animations, rendering and strong knowledge of the Android UI kit)

  • Knowledgeable about test driven development (TDD), behavior driven development (BDD) and debugging.

  • Basic cryptographic knowledge


  • Literacy in one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Swift, Objective-C, Python.

  • System engineering /architectural skills e.g. be able to understand the big picture.
