Overview

As a Site Reliability Engineer on this team, you will be critical to the support of our public safety products running in the cloud. This team is developing services, tools, and processes to support other Motorola Solutions’ engineering teams. You will be working on a high-velocity, results-oriented team that leverages cutting-edge technologies and techniques. The right individual will be motivated and will have a passion for automation, deployment processes and enabling innovation. Your efforts will help to shape the engineering culture and best practices across Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise organization.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about scripting on both Linux and Windows and have experience troubleshooting enterprise software deployments. To succeed in this role, you must be adept at learning new technologies, good at collaborating on customer solutions, and not afraid to roll up your sleeves.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Define and meet scalability, availability, security, and performance goals
  • Attend daily stand-up meetings, collaborate with your peers, prioritize features, and work with a sense of urgency to deliver value to your customers
  • Understand complex technical details and build test methodologies for them
  • Great communication and eagerness to continue learning
  • Strong Linux administration understanding
  • Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment tools
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
  • Previous experience with L3/L4 networking (load balancers/firewalls)
  • Experience with monitoring tools
  • Experience with Subversion or GitHub
  • Participate in an on-call 24×7 rotation

Qualifications

  • Proficient in automation, expert in establishing repeatable procedures.
  • Interest in web infrastructure and distributed systems; In this role you will gain hands-on experience working with production cloud computing services

Desired skills

  • Solid Experience operating Production environments in AWS, or Azure
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as JSON, Powershell, Ruby, Perl, Python, Bash
  • Experience implementing build configuration tools, such as Jenkins, Git, SVN, Ant, Chef, or Puppet
  • Agile development environment experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience including experience with Linux or Windows system administration
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by the government
