Principal Software Engineer – OpenShift

Overview

Become a key member of our OpenShift team and focus on standardization of containers, including working around Red Hat Container Catalog, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environment. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer (and all levels) to enhance our container management strategy to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will be part of the OpenShift team that is about passion for technology and development, balanced with the responsibility of running a hosted service and supporting a solution. We are building a team and service that will change how development is done, using the strength of Red Hat technologies and services hosted in the cloud. You’ll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment, with the goal of making our end users and customers more effective with every release.

Act as a Red Hat Container Catalog and OpenShift expert on all things in this space, from helping decide the most effective frameworks to focus on, to integrating the right ecosystem of modules needed to complete the developer experience
Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat as well as with the open source community
Use your excellent communication skills to communicate with other OpenShift engineers, product managers, and management across the globe
Be an engineering contributor to Red Hat Container Catalog and OpenShift to deliver the functionality needed, from the requirement decisions that you help understand and prioritize
Work in a fast-paced environment
Communicate with end users through IRC, forums, and email

Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to directly interact with customers
Ability to learn new things quickly and work with the following technologies on a day-to-day basis:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora, working with technologies like cgroups and SELinux
Everything Containers and Kubernetes related
Familiarity with many of these, and expert-level skills in one of the following technologies:
Upstream communities
Ruby and Bash scripting
Go
Familiarity with OpenShift by Red Hat is an advantage
