At Farseer, we’re working hard at building a spreadsheet that doesn’t suck. Farseer is like a combination of AirTable and Google Sheets – it enhances the spreadsheet model with powerful database features. It’s based on our custom-made in-memory analytical database capable of calculating millions of cells in real-time.

Software Engineer (Backend)

What we offer

  • Total gross salary 40-60k EUR per year
  • Quarterly bonuses depending on the company’s performance

Engineers on the team today:

  • Work in TypeScript, Python, C++
  • We use Node.js for API server, C++ for database, Python for data science stuff
  • Deploy the app on Google Cloud using Kubernetes.
  • Are extremely focused on the performance since our app/db needs to handle a lot of data
  • We enjoy being a generalist and not tied down to a specific programming language
  • Are happy to help and support other team members in frontend, data science, even with customer support and sales

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of working full-time as a software engineer
  • A fundamental understanding of algorithms, programming languages, compilers, databases
  • Some experience in Node.js, C++ or something similar

  • We designed a custom formula language, wrote a parser and bytecode generator
  • Built an in-memory analytic database specialized for financial modeling with automatic indexing, calculations, caching…
  • Created an AI based time series forecasting algorithm
  • System for running remote jobs

Software Engineer (Frontend)

  • Use React and write code in TypeScript
  • Put themselves in the shoes of our users to craft a great experience
  • Make sure their code is fast since we often handle a lot of data
  • Are not afraid to write some backend code if needed
  • Are happy to help and support other team members in backend, data science, even with customer support and sales

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of working full-time as a software engineer
  • Experience with frontend development in React

Where is Farseer located

Farseer has an office in Zagreb, Croatia (near Trg Dr. Franje Tuđmana).

Remote work?

Generally ok, especially for more senior team members.

Did you receive any funding?

We received a grant (55k EUR) from the EU for an innovative technical concept and pre-seed investment (100k EUR). We’re now raising a seed round of 1m+ USD.

What’s your interview process?

We will reply to each job application. First, we do phone/video call screening, then an onsite (or video call if not possible) technical interview.

What’s your compensation structure? How much money will I make?

We negotiate with each candidate the compensation package separately, including base salary, quarterly or annual bonuses, and stock options.
