Steno’s Engineering team is looking for a Senior Front End Developer to join! If you’re enthusiastic about an engineering culture with a spirit of continuous improvement in all aspects of building products – come join us!
Who are you?
You love solving problems and collaborating with others to solve those problems
You’ve become familiar with the downsides of both under-engineering and over-engineering, and developed an appreciation for working pragmatically
You seek clarity, and as much simplicity as the underlying problem domain will allow
You are well organized, able to manage time effectively, and comfortable working through sometimes incomplete designs and product specs
You recognize the real work is in getting the last 20% of a project done, and the difference is made in the details
You have a solid understanding of web browsers and web performance
You enjoy making sure the front end experience is seamless across multiple different device sizes and browsers
You appreciate the beauty of simple and readable code, especially when creating and evolving client-side apps that have complex state
On a regular basis, you’ll be:
Doing hands-on software development
Creating and maintaining front end components and wiring up those components to work with the relevant backend systems
Implementing changes to our code based on high level product specs and designs
Implementing new technologies, where appropriate, to enhance our front end user experience
Writing automated test cases for the code you are writing
Researching and fixing any bugs which may arise in our front end components
Our Team. The Engineering team is a highly reliable, constantly innovative team. We work hand-in-hand with Product and Design teams for execution of new ideas and solutions.

You’re gonna crush it if:
You’ve got 3+ years of Front End development experience
You’ve got experience with modern front-end frameworks as well as http://vanilla-js.com/
You have experience creating production applications that need to be highly available
You are a self-starter with effective time management in remote working environments and you are comfortable working in a fast paced environment; a “can-do” attitude is a must!
You have the desire to work with a fast-paced and quickly growing tech start-up and you are enthusiastic about the opportunity for growth within the company (Bonus points if you have start up experience!)
You are passionate about putting technology into the service of people
Bonus points if you are in Austin, TX or another state where we are growing (Florida and New York)

About Steno
Steno was founded in Los Angeles in 2018. We are a quickly growing legal technology startup with a straightforward core purpose: to improve the litigation process. Our team is highly reliable, constantly innovative, and operates with a hospitality mindset in every single way. Seriously. Steno has grown from just nine employees in Los Angeles to more than 120 across the nation and works fully remote in the last year.
