The Travix development organisation teams are continuously delivering new features in a fully automated test and deploy environment. Due to the growth of our business, we are constantly looking for new talent. As a result, the Product & Technology department at our office in Amsterdam is now looking for an Engineering Manager for Front-end, .Net or both (Full-Stack).

The challenge

To face the everyday challenges of an online global player such as Travix, we need a world league development team that helps us build a solid technical foundation that will support our ambitious growth plans. We are actively applying the Scrum framework and expect our Engineering Managers to take a leading role in working with their teams to get enhancements delivered to the business.

Our leading eCommerce sites as well as our mid & back office and Call Center Agency Dashboard are being continuously enhanced, re-factored and, in some cases, rebuilt to handle more brands and countries to bring full automation to our call center and finance departments. To find the right balance, we need your expert opinion in helping us make the right decisions and drive the teams towards delivering more and more business value. Our goal is to deliver the best customer experience across web desktop, tablet and mobile channels.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who knows their way around the Presentation Layer (Web), as well as Service Layer (Business Logic), and who can bring proven people skills to the mix to help motivate and inspire the teams.

At Travix we use the following technologies (you don’t need to have extensive knowledge of all the mentioned techniques): C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, XML, Java, Go, React, JavaScript, JQuery, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, BigTable, BigQuery, Elasticsearch, Mssql, CI/CD, Kubernetes.

For this role, we expect either a good level of experience in .NET Stack for API development as in C#, ASP.NET, or some experience with ReactJS, ES6, Webpack, NodeJS, CSS, as the role includes hands-on coding. For the role of Full-stack Engineering Manager we expect you to have experience in both.

As a hands-on Engineering Manager, you will work as part of a team to build products and services on Travix’s technology platform. In addition, you will provide direct functional leadership to a group of Software Engineers across multiple technical delivery teams, where you are responsible for the effectiveness and quality of the delivery of high-value products.  You will foster an environment that will encourage creative thinking and an environment of innovation. You will leverage your technical experience to develop and nurture the engineers to create high performing and motivated developers.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct functional leadership to a group of Software Engineers across multiple teams
  • Hands-on coding as part of a team developing products and services
  • Working with other Engineering Managers to provide technical alignment across teams
  • Innovating and creating an environment where all teams can innovate
  • Mentoring, coaching and supporting the career development of the Software Engineers
  • Leveraging your deep software engineering expertise to coach less experienced engineers solve challenging problems
  • Nurturing and encouraging creativity, as Travix offers a huge amount of freedom from a technology and ownership stand-point

Your Profile

We are looking for people with a flexible and results-oriented mentality, who love to develop new things, and are enthusiastic about their area of expertise and love leading and coaching a group of software engineers!

We think it’s important you have:

  • A degree in computer science, a related degree, or similar work experience
  • At least 6-8 years of relevant work experience
  • Hands-on experience as in .NET Stack for API development as in C#, ASP.NET and possibly JavaScript, React.js, Webpack and Unit Testing
  • Previous management or team lead experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Affinity with working in an Agile development environment and established e-Commerce businesses

If you have experience in working with high volume websites, eCommerce or in the travel industry, it is definitely an advantage
