Unissant is seeking a Full Stack JAVA/JEE Engineer to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia. This is for a multi-year contract to support the ongoing modernization and maintenance of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) information systems, using JAVA/JEE.

Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. Must have a current CBP BI clearance or be eligible to obtain one. Must be a U.S. Citizen. This is a highly technical position; individuals will be screened by peers in a technical review of skills and experience.

Successful applicants must comply with federal contractor vaccine mandate requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and implement JEE software applications
Use modern software engineering tools and methodologies including Eclipse, and Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence)
Work with users in an Agile development approach to understand requirements, then elicit feedback and refine solution through demonstrations
Present the solution at formal and informal design reviews, and document the design according to the Government’s system lifecycle methodology.
Work Experience:

5+ years of strong Java J2EE/JEE design and software development experience including designing, programming, and documenting large-scale software systems
Demonstrated expertise with Java, Java Frameworks (Spring, JMS), Object-Oriented Design and Development principles; and Java Application Servers such as WebLogic or Apache Tomcat; and relational databases such as Oracle or DB2
Experience in Application development using Spring Boot framework
Knowledge of design patterns (GoF, J2EE)
Demonstrated expertise in software engineering practices (e.g., reading/generating software specs, design patterns, continuous integration)
Service Oriented Architecture design and development experience a plus
Demonstrated experience working effectively across internal and external organizations.
Demonstrated experience in drafting documentation including functional and system requirements, configuration management plans, disaster recovery plans, user guides, System Security Plans, production data waivers.
Experience with developing and using scripting (SQL, Java, Unix/Linux) to automate processes.
Experience with Enterprise Search Technologies (Solr, Elasticsearch, Lucene, or others)
Experience with Java applications development using XA transactions and Spring Boot framework
Experience deploying and managing applications in a Docker environment a plus
First-hand experience working with large project teams (working with the Federal Government is a strong plus)
Job Skills:

Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively to develop innovative solutions to software problems
Ability to develop and maintain components with stringent performance requirements
Agile development experience a plus
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with applicable experience is required. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

This federal program requires the candidates to be a United States Citizen
Clearance – Must have a current CBP Background Investigation or be eligible to obtain one.
Communication Skills:

Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
Must work well in a matrixed team environment.
Travel:

Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%)
Environmental Requirements:

Mainly sedentary; in an office environment
May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
Flexible in working extended hours
