We’re looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Infrastructure Architect. This position analyzes, designs, and implements enterprise IT solutions that support internal and external customers. Our mission is to protect children and strengthen families. To provide these services, DCYF collaborates with many state and federal agencies, occupies 84 locations throughout the state, including several 24-hour facilities, and employs over 200 IT applications. DCYFs IT Division ensures client data is protected, the DCYF network is highly available, secure, and defendable, oversees IT strategy and governance, and implements enterprise architecture, IT program/project management, and IT policy and financial management within an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework. DCYFs IT Division is comprised of 200 IT positions providing IT support to DCYFs 4,000 employees.

Reporting directly to the IT Infrastructure Manager, this critical position supports the mission of DCYF and the purpose of the IT division through continuing to mature the DCYF Infrastructure architecture systems with a focus on building and supporting an ongoing Infrastructure portfolio of services.

We are currently teleworking due to the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order. This position has the potential to continue teleworking once it is lifted but will be required to be in-person for advanced troubleshooting, meetings, and/or training as needed.

Some of what you will get to do:

  • Work with key stakeholders and senior management to continually refine DCYF Infrastructure services and strategy.
    Implement new solutions through research and collaboration with the IT Infrastructure Team.
  • Produce documentation and direction in architectural initiatives around the agency Infrastructure systems and general day to day operations.
  • Provide architectural strategic planning, technical and organizational leadership, and consultation for the successful delivery of technology solutions for highly complex, customer-facing Information Technology service delivery initiatives.
  • Provide advanced-level architecture for other projects, solutions, or procurements. Design, implement, and document Infrastructure systems related services, like physical and virtual Windows server environments, DNS, Certs., DHCP, Storage Area Network and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Provide enterprise architecture research and analysis on new technologies that have a potential impact and/or provide improvements to service delivery.
  • Perform preventive system checks and maintenance tasks. Use gathered system information to adjust the system parameters for optimal performance.
  • Ensure device and application connectivity consistently meet established service levels in accordance with State security policies & procedures; monitor and maintain system security throughout all levels of the IT landscape.
  • Develop, implement, distribute and maintain all hardware Windows images thru Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Support the development, design, and maintenance of the existing backup and recovery solution across datacenters supporting the DCYF agency.
  • Produce architecture enterprise-level designs for Infrastructure systems, following those through to implementation via collaboration with project and support teams.
  • Provide enterprise architecture guidance for design, implementation, maintenance, operation, monitor, and report needed information for DHCP, DNS, DC/GC, Backups, Virtual environments, SAN Storages, Windows Servers, and other Infrastructure systems serving DCYF.
  • Serve as a senior-level Solution Architect to continue the development and refine the current DCYF Infrastructure strategy to include business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation in accordance with established standards.
  • Lead efforts to determine estimated costs and resource needs, as well as advantages and cost savings of implementing the various Infrastructure systems implementation strategies.
  • Clearly communicate issues to division management and stakeholders in a timely manner, including recommendations for resolution.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree including 9 semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses.

PLUS, the following experience. Experience below may be gained concurrently:

Eight (8) + years of recent information technology experience designing, programming, and maintaining Infrastructure systems to include but not limited to Windows Servers, Windows 10, Storage, Monitoring tools and Backups.
Eight (8) + years of recent experience maintaining the design and implementation of file and print services and NTFS and Share securities within a Windows Server environment.
Eight (8) + years of recent information technology experience designing, implementing network resources contained within a Microsoft Active Directory.
Eight (8) + years of recent information technology experience designing, implementing, configuring, and documenting virtual machines environments.
Excellent customer interaction skills to determine business needs and requirements.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
Advanced knowledge consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining Infrastructure systems as an Information Technology Systems Specialist 5 or an Information Technology Application Specialist 5 or equivalent or higher.
Advanced knowledge of disaster recovery and data backup recovery methodologies, technologies, and current industry standards.
Advanced knowledge designing, implementing and documenting custom windows images with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) or Microsoft Deployment tool kit.
Advance knowledge creating documents, analyzing, planning and designing Infrastructure resources across the IT org.
Advance knowledge analyzing, planning, and designing Storage Area Networks, Backups, cloud storage, and recovery services.
