Kepler is a technology startup with a mission to bring the magic of data into the bricks-and-mortar retail sector. About our Team

The company is founded and led by an intriguing duo – one who is a technology entrepreneur and the other a retail veteran. As of June 2021, we are 50 people strong across Australia, Asia and the US. Together, we’re a rapidly growing team of retail experts, hardware engineers, software developers, data scientists and operations specialists working closely to make our retail customers succeed with data.

About the Role

We’re looking for an R&D engineer to elevate our product innovation by researching and piloting new technologies, algorithms and insights.  Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Evaluating and building technology pilots.
  • Build proof of concepts to bring ideas to life.
  • Refining and improving existing technology by injecting new ideas.
  • Capture learning and work with wider technology team to productionise solution.

The ideal candidate should have minimum 3 years industry experience with a degree in software engineering (or equivalent) and possess excellent aptitude and willingness to learn and apply new learnings, passionate about software development and possess a continuous improvement mindset.

Skill and Requirements

  • 3+ years software development experience
  • At least 6+ months direct experience developing in Python
  • Experience with Database technology and SQL
  • Experience in at least one of these languages: Go, nodejs or Java
  • Experience developing and consuming REST API
  • Some familiarity with Linux will be an advantage
  • Demonstrated working experience on Data Analysis will be an advantage.
