Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to expand our team. Lightspeed uses its novel

technology to produce massive terabyte-sized imaging datasets that produce novel

biological insights. This position will focus on developing our internal instrument control

and analysis Python code into user friendly software.

Responsibilities include:

● Build, design, and test graphical user interfaces for existing pipelines

● Create, design, and test software for operating microscope system based on

existing Python code

● Implement graphical user interface (GUI) for operating microscope hardware

based on cross-departmental UX feedback

● Integrate existing MATLAB code into Python/C# data analysis pipeline

● Work with internal chemistry/hardware teams on R&D experiments

● Develops, deploys, and maintains large-scale databases of 3D imaging datasets

amenable to massively parallel (e.g. “in the cloud”) computational methods

● Demonstrates good software engineering practices, and applies these across the

research pipeline, from prototypes of new methods to mature and validated

methods

● Maintains awareness of latest developments in relevant fields, evaluates and

applies as warranted

● Generates IP and participates in the drafting of patent filings

Preferred Qualifications and skills

● Python

● UI / UX design for desktop applications

● Experience building graphical user interfaces for existing pipelines

● Experience with C# / Java is a plus

● Experience with git and version control

● Experience with AWS S3 / EC2 is a plus

● Applicants of any higher education level (undergraduate, masters, PhD) will be

considered, with preference given to those with substantial, real-world

experience in application development

Experience:

● Software Experience: 2+ years developing desktop applications
