Sr. Software Engineer

The whole page organization and feature team acts as the hinge of every pieces within Bing search engine. We put together information from different sources (including web result and Bing answer), rank them and compose the final experience of the search result page. Our commitment is to win Google on a number of popular query segments (including restaurant, attraction, school, doctor and many more) within a short time. The competitor is very strong and moving fast, which requires us to work in a super agile way and keep delivering high quality features. Search is different with other business – it’s more of an application containing all cutting-edge technologies. It includes large scaled platform building, Peta-byte level data analysis, tons of AI models for ranking, natural language understanding, and moreover, it’s about predicting the behavior of millions of users. We run tens of real-user-traffic experiments every day. Sometimes a tiny modification to a font or color can cause huge gain/loss on user engagement or revenue. That’s the unique glamour of search.
We are looking for experienced and passionate engineers to help defining and building the experience for different query segments. The preferred candidate should be able to develop product quality features in fast pace. The candidate is also required to have a good sense of user interface design, and be very innovative in improving the user experience.
Below are the additional skills that considered as plus:
1. Certain data-analyzing ability and experienced in map-reduce style data analysis.
2. Strong C# or Java coding /debugging skills
3. Agile engineering experience
4. Web UI development experience, css, javascript
A BA/BS degree in CS or related technical discipline and 5+ year or equivalent industry experience in User Experience software development is required.
