Software Technical Manager

Compass Technology Group is a woman and veteran owned small business focused on developing innovative electromagnetic measurement devices. We are looking for an experienced Software Technical Manager to join our software development team.  We embrace a team-based problem-solving approach that results in a creative environment with a continuous exchange of new ideas and learning.

The Software Technical Manager will partner with stakeholders to define the features and write specifications, prioritize features, and manage releases. They will identify development problems or gaps that put the project goals at risk and communicate them to the appropriate project manager. They will work with developers to identify the highest risk areas of the project and have appropriate prevention and mitigation strategies in place. This role ensures outcomes are measured and used to drive future plans and actions.

Key Responsibilities
–  Lead the software team to deliver on cross-functional technical solutions
–  Partner with Product Owners to ensure proper story development, work estimation, and scheduling of work
–  Coordinates work and tasking of the software team
–  Provides expertise and input in project plans, goals, deadlines, testing, implementation, changes, upgrades and post live support of assigned systems
–  Develop requirements documents, specifications, process flows, data mapping and diagrams for developers and testers to follow
–  Work with the developers to translate business requirements into technical specifications
–  Maintain relationships with internal and external customers
–  Lead team in meeting project deadlines and performance objectives
–  Develops and maintains application specific support documentation
–  Define, document and coordinate the execution of testing procedures and develop test cases to serve the overall quality assurance process
–  Defect management
–  Supervisor responsibilities such as lead meetings, approve time sheets, periodically evaluate performance
–  Adhere to and promote the Compass Quality Management System and company goals

Qualifications
–  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related industry experience
–  3+ years of Software Program Management experience or 5+ years as a Business Systems Analyst
–  Deep experience in Software Engineering and standard SDLCs
–  Strong validated experience communicating directly with leadership, proactive problem solving, and critical thinking
–  Strong familiarity with agile tools, methodologies, and best practices
–  Excellent analytical skills
–  Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
–  Proven ability to own products according within a defined scope, budget, and timeline
–  Experience working cross-functionally leading a program or product delivery with both technical and non-technical members
–  Validated history influencing and affecting change at all levels of the organization without having positional authority
–  Ability to lead others and gain buy-in diplomatically
