Overview

The Technical Product Owner will be responsible for owning vision and prioritization of new technical features and/or enhancements to compelling, customer-oriented products across brands for Inspire, and will be responsible for translating technical features into prioritized user stories and acceptance criteria; accountable for value delivery and value realization at the pod level.

As a Technical Product Owner, you will be the subject-matter expert who uses their technical background to bridge the gap between the product and technical side of product development.

The role will manage the technical delivery of an agile team of developers, and work closely with Product Managers and leadership to set the priorities of the product pod.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own delivering technical features of the product and partnering with the Business Product Owner to deliver the product roadmap.
  • Shape the development team’s vision/roadmap and steer the team in delivering products/platforms features/work oriented around business impact.
  • Shape and prioritize the backlog, utilizing business expertise and understanding of customer needs, responsible for translating requirements into technical stories & acceptance criteria, with input from the Business Product Owner.
  • Balance business value with technical feasibility while prioritizing stories and features, optimizing cost, and improving delivery efficiency.
  • Align dependencies, identify risks and mitigation, and provide timely escalation to management.
  • Plan to resource for the team (i.e. new role, change in role), create resourcing requests, and select and onboard members to join the pod.
  • Work closely with the Business Product Owner and Product/Platform Manager to establish the products’ business value and support messaging, communication, and customer outreach as necessary.
  • Ensure the products/features/work meet relevant security, privacy & compliance standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement of pod delivery by monitoring sprint metrics, creating up-to-date documentation, securing high deployment success rate, etc.
  • Drive selection of solution options in collaboration with the Lead Engineer and Solution Architect.
  • Work with the Lead Engineer to balance tech debt with feature delivery.
  • Facilitate release planning, and demos with stakeholders.
  • Interact with other pods within the Product / Platform as part of synchronization ceremonies to implement cross-pod tasks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work.
  • 0-14 years of experience building and supporting large-scale and highly available data solutions and directly managing or leading a team(s) of data engineers and developers. Experience in retail, restaurant, and/or eCommerce industry preferred.
  • Working within an Agile development environment is preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES

  • Able to manage development team to deliverables: on time, scope, and budget.
  • Experience working with distributed teams.
  • Able to present complex technical concepts to business partners and senior management.
  • Experience leading teams with deep technical experience with enterprise development (e.g., Python, SQL) and technology platforms (e.g., Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, Azure).
  • Proficiency with source control and release technologies (e.g., Git and Azure DevOps) and practices (e.g., CI/CD and automation).
  • Good soft skills, able to demonstrate solutions to business partners.
  • Cross-functional internal team exposure – has worked previously with Product, Design, QA, and Delivery leads.
  • Can help onboard and provide support to developers as they learn in their careers.
  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum development teams.
  • Multiple successful product launches under your belt.
  • Ability to quickly absorb technical concepts and effectively communicate them to a non-technical audience.
  • Good knowledge of data pipelines, SQL queries, scripts, stored procedures, materialized views, and views using technologies such as SnowSQL, ADF, databricks, Airflow, etc.
  • Strong experience in delivering cloud-based data solutions including data lake, data mart/warehouse, etc. using technologies such as Azure, ADLS, Snowflake, etc.
  • Exposure to Azure DevOps, Data Quality tools, and techniques
  • Exceptional communication skills including written, verbal, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and delivering in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to perform a variety of responsibilities at the strategic and operational levels.
